Summary:
Hip fractures are a common injury particularly in elderly patients. Morbidity and mortality figures in these elderly patients with multiple co- morbidities are high. A multidisciplinary approach in caring for these patients is beneficial with an emphasis on early resuscitation, careful preoperative assessment and early surgical management.
