SAFE Study

Summary:

The Saline versus Albumin Fluid Evaluation study, in approximately 7000 intensive care patients, showed similar outcomes in patients receiving either normal saline or  4% albumin. In particular mortality figures, days in hospital, days in ICU, days of mechanical ventilation and days of renal replacement therapy were similar in both groups.
